Dr Bruce Mitchell has an extensive Sports Medicine background (a previous AFL club doctor) and is Ex- National President of Sports Medicine Australia . Dr Mitchell is a Research Fellow at the University of Melbourne , Centre for Health, Exercise and Sports Medicine (CHESM) and has a special interest in the management of hip, buttock, back and groin pain. He is an active researcher in these fields and has published extensively. Dr Mitchell has training in spinal interventional techniques and is constantly developing these skills. He is also a Fellow of the American College of Sports Medicine and has completed a Masters of Pain Medicine. He recently completed the International Fellowship of Interventional Pain Practice.

Dr Mitchell graduated from Melbourne University in 1985 and received his diploma in Sports Medicine in 1989. He has published research in Sports Medicine since 1991, qualifying as a Sports Physician in 2000, when he was the winner of the ACSP medal.

Dr Mitchell has worked as a clinical research fellow at the Austin and Repat Medical Centre and is currently a clinical research fellow at The University of Melbourne, Centre for Health, Exercise and Sports Medicine, (CHESM). He has worked as a clinician at Reservoir Sports Medicine Centre, 1989 to 2004, Olympic Park Sports Medicine Centre (OPSMC) 1994 to 2005 and Metro Spinal Clinic since 2003.
