Dr Paul Verrills a Fellow of the Australasian Faculty of Musculoskeletal Medicine and completed a Masters in Pain Medicine under Professor Bogduk at the University of Newcastle . He has also been awarded his International Fellowship in Interventional Pain Practice. Currently, he is on the Research Committee for the International Spinal Intervention Society (ISIS) and is Editor of the ISIS Newsletter/Journal. Dr Verrills regularly presents in the United States on interventional techniques and is a teaching facilitator within ISIS . He is also an active member of the World Institute of Pain, the International Association for the Study of Pain, and the American Society of Interventional Pain Physicians.

Innovations
- Key member of the team of pain management physicians that introduced manometric monitored provocation discography to Australia and Intradiscal Electrothermal Therapy (IDET) & Percutaneous Disk Decompression -Nucleoplasty to Victoria.
- Functional Stereotactic Mapping procedures to increase the accuracy of radiofrequency neurotomy lesioning.
- Amongst the first to perform transforaminal epidural injections using CT guided control and helped to define the approach using this modality to the cervical nerve roots.
- Stereotactic Radiofrequency Neurotomy of sacroiliac joint
